Certification
The California Healthcare Interpreting Association's mission includes promoting the healthcare interpreter profession, and providing education and training for healthcare professionals.
There are two certifications that work to measure, and validate a healthcare/medical interpreters' knowledge and skills. They are:
The Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI - http://cchicertification.org) and
The National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI - https://www.certifiedmedicalinterpreters.org)
We encourage strongly interpreters seeking to become nationally certified to analyze, and compare both options in order to make an informed decision.
Continuing Education (CE) certificates for Certified Interpreters
CHIA issues proof of continuing education at the time it is earned. CHIA does not warranty the replacement of lost certificates.
We strongly suggest that you use your profile with your certifying organization as a place to safely archive your earned certificates.
