Job Description The Translation Project Coordinator (TPC) is responsible for the management of L.A. Care Health Plan’s translation process. The TPC’s scope of work includes ensuring that the source document is ready for translations, scheduling and coordinating multiple translation requests, delegating projects to appropriate translationvendors, ensuring quality and timely translations, and addressing any other outstanding issues as needed. The TPC is also responsible for the coordination and quality check of translation services activities including translations, editing, proofing, lay out and cultural competency reviews. The TPC serves as the liaison between the Cultural & Linguistics Services Department and other internal departments requesting C&L services. The TPC also serves as the primary contact between L.A. Care and its contracted translation vendors. The TPC is responsible for all communication with, and education of, internal department staff and translation vendors to ensure clear expectations and to address any concerns or issues. In addition, the TPC is accountable for translation related projects,such as maintaining and upgrading the translation request team room, revising the managed care glossaries, developing and updating the translation style guides, converting materials in alternative formats (audio, large print, and Braille), researching new translation technology, maintaining relevant polices and procedures and other department related projects.

Qualifications EDUCATION/TRAINING: BA Degree in Linguistics, Health Education, or Healthcare

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years experience in translation services. Translation experience with professional affiliations in the field of translations.

Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite. Project management experience. Excellent problem solving, time management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask a high number of projects and produce quality work.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Spanish.
Technical translation (SDL software or Trados) experience.


FOREIGN LANGUAGES:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
