| Job Description | Duties
The Interpretation Project Coordinator (IPC) is responsible for the management of L.A. Care Health Plan’s interpretation services program. The IPC’s scope of work includes receiving and scheduling interpretation requests, assigning service requests to appropriate vendors, and ensuring vendors provide quality interpretation services. The IPC serves as the liaison between the Cultural & Linguistics Services Department and other entities (internal departments and L.A. Care’s provider network) requesting C&L services. The IPC also serves as the primary contact between L.A. Care and its contracted interpretation vendors, who provide telephonic and face-to-face interpretation services, including American Sign Language. The IPC is responsible for all communication with, and education of, internal department staff and interpretation vendors to ensure delivery of services in a timely manner and to address any concerns or issues. In addition, the IPC is accountable for related interpretation projects, such as documenting member complaints and grievances regarding language access and collaborating with the C&L Specialist to resolve these issues, addressing after hour language access, assisting with the implementation of related service improvement activities, maintaining/upgrading the interpretation request team room, developing and updating the translation style guides, converting materials in alternative formats (audio, large print, and Braille), and other projects related to the department. The IPC supports the Translation Project Coordinator as needed. |
| Qualifications | EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Required: BA in Linguistics or Health Education/Healthcare Preferred: Masters Degree in Linguistics or Health Education/Healthcare EXPERIENCE: Required: Ability to multi-task significant projects and produce quality work. Minimum 2 years experience in interpretation services. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent problem solving, time management and interpersonal skills Preferred: Healthcare interpretation experience. FOREIGN LANGUAGES: Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) |
