Dear interpreters' educators:

CHIA invites you to submit an oral presentation proposal for its 19th Annual Educational Conference, “CHIA: Forging The Way To A Gold Standard In Health Equity,” in the following categories:

  • Workshop. These are interactive skill-building presentations that are 2 hours long taking place Friday morning. Limited space to 4 workshops
  • Breakout Session. These presentations are 60 minutes long, taking place Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. 

Proposals for workshops & presentations can be in any of the following areas:

  • Language Access, and LEP patients’ rights
  • Medical terminology and healthcare concepts
  • Interpreting in specific medical specialties
  • Culturally and linguistically appropriate health care services
  • Skills needed for, and challenges on interpreting in medical/legal settings (worker’s comp)
  • Interpreting skills in consecutive, sight translation, and simultaneous models
  • Work benefits or challenges for contract interpreters, freelance, staff interpreters, translators and bilingual employees
  • Applications of technology that improve access to care, interpreter training and on-the-job tools for working interpreters
  • Healthcare interpreting for ASL interpreters
